I have been in need of a project to work on in the evenings while on the road.  My friend, Susan Wise, has been making patchwork bags and so volunteered to help me create one.  Some of the patches are her creations, many are mine, using her fabric and accessories. Maikel, Susan's husband, even chipped in one evening when we were stitching patches together.  It is a great project, lots of handwork and all the creativity you can muster.

Besides the Grand Canyon, 

There are snow capped peaks, dry barren deserts,

rolling grasslands, sheltered forests with babbling streams,

and lush bahadas of amazing color and variety.

Thinking of Home in Colorado

Yankee Girl Head Frame

We have been on the road for almost a month and I am just getting out my paints.
As you can see, my mind is still in Colorado, though we have had some great adventures
the past few weeks.  

I have done a light wash on the sky and the background mountain as well as the old mining head frame

Here I have put in some of the trees

Now adding more color and detail to the head frame.
I love the desert southwest this time of year, but it is snowing back home,
and my thoughts stray that direction.  
Hopefully, I will have a chance to finish this painting soon, then start work on 
desert landscapes

Wonderful Daze

more than 3 months premature, after spending her first 4 months in the hospital, she is finally home

with her family.  She is  Wonder Baby Emma

Tie Dyeing is so much fun, I never know what will happen

Fleece lined afghan,  I knitted this afghan a few months ago, but it was not soft and cuddly,
so I lined it with fleece, now it is snuggleable

All these things went in the mail yesterday, so don't tell, shhh

Winter's Gift

A fresh start to a beautiful New Year

Continued from December 14th, Time To Paint Winter:
Distant trees were added,  they help define the layers of ridges

The foreground is a wet in wet wash of violets and yellows using very little pigment

A small tree done in greens and blues, then shadows.
 I used a damp, stiff bristled brush to slightly fade out
the mountains.  Resolve to do more painting!
